Sometimes I wonder if that is true.

That part where ‘no other species wonder about the meaning of existence…’

What if, the trees, spreading their arms, always gazing at the universe in silence since our planet was young… are always in awe with the cosmic view.

What if they figured it out already, yet in their current forms, have no means of sharing it with us.

Or… what if they have been telling us already but we are not capable of hearing.

Or we don’t listen at all.

Like our human eyes which can only view a small portion of the electromagnetic spectrum, we haven’t fully developed our hearing yet to adjust to their communication frequencies.

Same holds true with the other life forms.

And we’re not even going to the dolphins as of the moment.

Dolphins deserve a thread of their own.

UPDATE:

Just last month ( August 2012 ) there are articles in the ‘net that show that animals do have consciousness. Hare are some links:

» io9.com Prominent scientists sign declaration that animals have conscious awareness, just like us
» ScientificAmerican.com Octopuses Gain Consciousness (According to Scientists’ Declaration)
» HUFFINGTONPost.com Consciousness Is Everywhere

The discussion related to the wonders of the universe and the universe itself should not be limited to science geeks, teachers and students inside their classrooms.

It should be for all humanity regardless of education, occupation, culture and religion.

Its vastness and mystery is for all.

To wonder at, and be inspired by.

Spreading it though, is a challenge especially in communities where religion and beliefs feel threatened by it.

We live in a world where you can find astrology in most newspapers but no astronomy sections in it.

But that should not stop you from sharing it.
